This week’s them at Illustration Friday is “Wool.” My first thought went to sheep, or balls of yarn, and both of those renderings are heavily represented, but I wanted a different take. I then though of the Hudson Bay Company point blankets, which were of a type with the first example of wool that many of the First Nations of North America were exposed to. I thought about how I might present it, perhaps as a folded blanket on a table, or draped over a bed, but in the end I opted for minimalism. I took a canvas, and put eight lines on it, using the traditional colours. This is the first IF drawing I haven’t done in Procreate on the iPad, and for this one I used ArtRage on my iPhone.
